SUMMARY:The Big Event Campout April 5-8\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Location: Our Dairy Barn\nCoordinates: N35⁰ 19.787 and W092⁰ 36.462\nDates: April 5-8\, 2024 (Fri through Mon nights)\nHost: Johnboy & Brenda Dixon\nPhone: 501-289-0505(J) or 501-652-1219(B)\nCost: Free \nWe are in the very center of the totality of the eclipse on Monday afternoon\, April 8. There will\nprobably be a lot of traffic in Conway county\, but we are out in the country\, hopefully away\nfrom most of it. Being in early April\, weather can be totally unpredictable. It could be sunny\nand 70s or snow and 30s\, or warm and stormy. Be prepared for anything. \nDirections: From I-40\, mile-marker 108 at Morrilton\, AR\, go north on AR Hwy 9 for 13 miles to\nBirdtown\, turn left (north) on Grandview Road and go 1.8 miles. If coming from the north: from\nCenter Ridge\, AR\, go south on AR Hwy 9 to Birdtown\, about 6 miles\, turn right on Grandview Road and go 1.8 miles. Our house is a red brick on the right. The dairy barn sits closer to the road\, is a white concrete block building with a “barn quilt” facing the road. \nConveniences: Diary barn has bath\, shower and full kitchen and a wood stove\, so a warm place\ncan be had all day and night. Electricity will be limited\, depending on how many attend. We\nhave plenty of yard to camp. There’s gas and groceries in Morrilton (15 miles south) and Clinton\n(20 miles north). There is gas at Birdtown (sometimes) and Center Ridge\, but being out in the\ncountry\, it’s more expensive that town. \nThe Birdtown Country Store serves 3 meals per day and has a great pizza. There is also a good\nlittle restaurant between Center Ridge and Birdtown (the Bucket List) that’s open til 8 pm on\nweekends. They are usually closed on Monday\, but there may be an exception this year. We\nmay have a biker’s stew. There’s lots of nice riding around here\, whether on 2\, 3 or 4 wheels.\nAny mode of transportation is welcome. \nNote: If you plug in our address to a GPS\, some are right on\, but some will put you a mile too\nfar north\, so follow the directions or use the coordinates.
